Add, Remove & Edit Buttons In WordPress

What will this help me do?

In this guide, we will walk you through how to make changes to any buttons you have on the site. This will include what the buttons say, where they link to, as well as how to remove or add in a new button. (Please note this will not apply to any buttons on forms.)

Adding a new button

1. Log in to your WordPress website dashboard (if you are unsure how to do so, follow our tutorial here).

2. In the black column, on the left hand side of the dashboard, hover your cursor over the “Pages menu item, followed by “All Pages“.

3. This will then show a list of all of your websites pages. Hover over the page you’d like to edit, and you will be presented with a list of further options. Next, select “Edit with Elementor“.

4. You will then be presented with the Elementor Page Builder tools, alongside the page you requested to edit.

5. Scroll to the section of the page you would like to add the button. Then using the menu on the left, click and drag the “Button” widget onto the page. A blue rectangle should appear on the site under your cursor so you know where the button will be placed.

6. Once you have placed the button, the widget panel on the left will change to the “Edit Button” panel. This is where you can change what your button does.

Editing a button

7. Follow the previous steps, 1-3, in order to access the relevant page. Locate the button you would like to edit on the page. Using your cursor, hover over the button and click the small pencil icon that will appear in the top right.

8. Once you have clicked on the pencil, the widget panel on the left will change to the “Edit Button” panel. This is where you can change what your button does.

9. Under the “Text” option in the Edit Button Panel, you can change what the text on the button will say. We recommend that this should tell the user what you want them to do.

10. Under the “Link” option in the Edit Button Panel. This should be the URL of the page you want the button to link to.

Remove a button from the site

11. Follow the previous steps above, 1-5, in order to access the relevant page and locate the button.

12. Right click on the button you want to remove to bring up the pop-out menu.

13. Click delete at the bottom of the menu.

14. Click Update in the bottom right corner to ensure any changes have been saved.
